There are two theme parks on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, the Baku Family Water Park in the north at Corralejo and the Oasis Park in the south. The latter is dedicated to the natural world - a kind of game park meets zoo. Both theme parks offer fabulous family days out on any holiday to the sunshine island of Fuerteventura.

Oasis Park Fuerteventura, is located in La Lajita and lays claim to being 'the biggest park in the Canary Islands'. So, if size matters, head here. Situated close to Costa Calma on the south of the island, Oasis Park Fuerteventura opens every day of the year and offers some great wildlife adventures that generally aren't available in a mainstream zoo or safari park, plus pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies.

The first thing that strikes you is that Oasis Park has gone to great lengths to recreate the natural habitat of their permanent residents, including a 'Great African Valley' of some 150,000 square metres within the Oasis Animal Park where giraffes, hippos, cheetas, camels and elephants look quite at home. There are also inventive ways of viewing the animals at Oasis Park, such as an aerial walkway allowing you to walk as tall as a giraffe and greet them at their own level.

Fuerteventura Oasis Park also boasts a 450-strong camel farm. Home to the largest stock of camels in Europe, the Camel Farm allows you to get up close to these curious animals that once provided the most popular means of transport on Fuerteventura. For the adventurous, Oasis Park runs camel safaris close to the camel farm - where you ride on a camel in a long string, taking in the stunning island horizons and marvellous southern beaches at a relaxed pace. 

Other entertainment at Oasis Park includes a kid's farm with pony rides and plenty of animals to pet. There's also a fantastic children's playground at Oasis Park Fuerteventura where children are encouraged to try and copy some of the physical skills seen in the park. Whether your children are jumping like kangaroos on the elastic beds, sliding like snakes or hanging like monkeys you can be sure there's plenty to entertain them in Oasis Park Fuerteventura. 

Daily shows that run at Oasis Park include sea lion shows, and educational birds of prey shows that fly eagles, owls and flacons to and from the hand. Not to be left out there are also reptile and parrot shows within the Fuertaventura Oasis Park and you might be surprised to find out just how intelligent a parrot really is as they get up to some amazing things! Oasis Park makes education great fun and there's more than enough activity to fill a day with - in fact we reckon you could spend a week at Oasis Park and still be learning new and interesting stuff about the natural world.

Whether you're into monkeys or meerkats, capybara or kangaroo - they're all here to see, watch and learn about. There are also restaurants and shops located throughout Oasis Park and a botanical garden of cacti and tropical plants that took 11 years to design. The botanical garden offers some great observation points of the ocean, rare birds, the crocodile lake and any passing camel safari.

Access to the park is easy with an Oasis Park bus services running from the key resort areas of Costa Calma, Jandia, Esquinzo and Cleta de Fuste. Oasis Park Fuerteventura is also easily accessed by ferry from neighbouring island Lanzarote.
